Diwali 2022 @Byfangweg 6, 4051 Basel

It's been almost more than 2.5 years since ICAS had a celebration due to COVID. We have received overwhelming response to our Diwali event. It was a great pleasure to you all and celebrate together after a long gap. THANK you all for gracing the event and making it lively.

ICAS hosted the first event of the year, Republic day celebrations. The event started with various patriotic songs, by adults and children groups,as a salute to Mother India. To promote multi cultural and multi-lingual diversity,the cultural show witnessed songs and dance performances by kids and adults in different languages. Various foot tapping numbers were performed in many languages , namely, Bengali, Marathi. Tamil, Kannada, Punjabi, Hindi and Telugu. A drama/skit performed by the gents group stood as a highlight of the show. The full day event raised the patriotism and unity, in all those participated.

Diwali 2017: from 18 to 22 hours.
Union Hall, Klybeckstrasse 95, 4057 Basel

Diwali is one of the most important festival of the year. This year, ICAS witnessed a huge gathering for this event. It was celebrated in the Union hall. The event commenced with lamp lighting and prayers to Goddess Lakshmi, to welcome her to our home. The cultural programmes were kick started with a Bharatanatyam dance followed by an amazing line up of Dance and singing programmes. Khanak group from Basel, headed by Mrs Nidhi Koppole and Mrs Kajari Karmakar dazzled the audience with their Bollywood dance performances. Many kids aged 4 to 10 participated in various dance programmes. Gents group entertained the audience with their dance performance. With cultural events, the day ended up in lots of happiness and laughter.

Ugadi 2017: Pfarrei Bruder Klaus, Hardstrasse 28, 4127 Birsfelden

Ugadi is the New Year festival and is the first day of New Year. As per Telugu tradition, this day has special significance, because the spring season starts from this day. Like every year, ICAS celebrated this day, with full spirit and festivity. All were dressed in their traditional best and were excited to take part in the Ugadi celebrations. Lots of cultural programs were lined up, performed by kids, men and ladies. From Classical musical experience (from Mrs Uma Kumar, and her students), to foot tapping music, all the programs had entertained the audience a lot. From the adults end, we had fashion show by ladies in traditional wear; men’s dance performance, ladies finale dance, and couple dance show. Many new talents were brought to the stage in this event. This event was an opportunity for many kids to bring out the best in them.

Republicday 2016: from 18:00 to 22:00

ICAS proudly presented, the first event of the calendar year 2016, the Republic day. The function celebrated the true spirit of the rich cultural diversity India. About 130 people gathered to celebrate this joyous event in Basel. Many cultural programs were performed on this occasion. The event stated with patriotic songs sung by Mrs Uma Kumar and her team. "Vandemataram , sung by young boys and girls raised the patriotic spirit in the gathering. The event also showcased bollywood performances choreographed by Mrs Neenu Kaul. Kids danced to various patriotic numbers like Jai ho and Phir bhi di hai hindusthani. For the very first time, there was also an all male dance performance. This was applauded by all. The show finally ended with a dad-daughters ramp walk, choreographed by Mrs Neenu Kaul. This remained the highlight of the event.

Republic day 2017: at 18:00 hrs

Republic day honours the date on which the constitution of India came into effect. ICAS celebrated 68th Republic day this year, with lots of pride and enthusiasm. This is the first event of the year 2017- hosted by ICAS. A huge crowd was gathered to celebrate this most important event. The event was started by a musical programme from Symphony group. Patriotic songs were rendered by kids and adults. Group dance performances on various patriotic songs were displayed. The audience enjoyed a drama programme on demonetisation. The event concluded with our National Anthem.

Ugadi 2016: 17.00 to 22.00 hrs.
at Gartenstrasse 16, Reinach

Celebrating UGADI, the Telugu New year, has become a traditional part of ICAS. This year, the event took place on 30th April where Music, Dance and Drama mesmerised the audience. For the first time, Ugadi event was sponsored by LYCA Mobiles. The event started with a prayer to goddess Laxmi by students of Mrs Uma Kumar, well known Carnatic musician in Basel. This was followed by a classical dance performance by kalashri group, trained by Mrs sumitra kesava. After that, there were many entertaining dances by kids and adults. Gents group entertained the audience by performing a humorous skit. The highlight of the event was a fashion show by the ladies, which was applauded by all. The event ended with a tasty dinner from Ahsaas catering.

Diwali 2015: from 10:15 to 15:00
at Gartenstrasse 16, 4153 Reinach

Diwali is the most awaited time of the year, and ICAS celebrated it with a lot of enthusiasm and zeal. The programmes were designed with a unique balance between traditional music and dances along with bollywood numbers. Mrs Uma Kumar and her team rendered carnatic music with great fervour. The highlight of this years programme was a bollywood show choreographed and executed by Mrs Neenu kaul, well known bollywood choreographer in Basel. There were a number of foot tapping numbers performed by adults and kids groups. From lighting the diyas, to the mouthwatering food, everything was perfect and enriched the spirit of the festival.

Ugadi 2015: from 11:00 to 17:00

The Indian Cultural Association of Switzerland planned a second event for 2015-UGADI the new year. This year, Ugadi went with a theme- A new beginning with multi-lingual diversity. To promote this, the cultural show witnessed songs and dance performances by kids and adults, in different languages namely, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. For this traditional festive occasion, the organizing team decided to go for a potluck menu with different traditional items. Along with the planned cultural events, other activities like Rangoli competition for ladies, and Antyakshari were organized. Antyakshari was enjoyed a lot by everyone, and remained the highlight for the day.

RepublicDay 2015: From 11:00 to 17:00

RepublicDay 2015 : ICAS hosted the first event of the year, Republic day celebrations. The event started with a patriotic song, vand emataram, as a salute to Mother India. Along with, there was a ladies dance performances, on the same. It has been quite encouraging show, as nine ladies could come together for the first time, delivering a dance performance on stage. There have been excellent performances by kids on different songs and dances. One such which has been applauded a lot was a hip hop dance performance by 5 girls. The show was anchored by a London based Stand up Comedian Mr, which was applauded by all. The day ended with a spirit of patriotism and human values. The highlight of this year’s show was that, there has been a coverage of the event, in very popular telugu news channels in India like ABN and TV 9. Both the channels applauded the show, and the effort of ICAS in brining Indians together for such a patriotic event. click here to see the moments of the event

Diwali 2014: from 11:00 to 17:00

Diwali is a special time for family and friends to get together. ICAS kept its tradition of uniting families in Switzerland to celebrate this joyous festival. The event attracted a huge crowd from all walks of life. The program was a perfect blend of classical and modern art and music in the event.One big attraction was the classical music performance by MRs Uma Kumar and Mrs Jayshree who took the crowd to a different world with their magical singing performance. Kids aslo rendered different classical songs. There was a Bharatanatyam dance performance by a yound girl which was applauded a lot. The second part of the event was a foot taping bolloyood performance by Mrs Shali Treffer and her group of young talented girls. A classic example of, music needing no language. The bolloywod performance was by a group of talented local children. A mini workshop of dance moves conducted by Shalini, was the highlight of the event. The crowd partcipated. with a lot of enthusiasm. The event also had programmes like free style dance, couple cat walk and kids disco, which kept the energy flowing till the end of the show. Outdoortrip 2014: From 29.05.2014 to 01.06.2014
at Arosa

A 2 day outdoor trip to Arosa was a unique event organized by ICAS. The ICAS organization committee organised a two-day fun trip to the picturesque and beautiful Davos Klosters region. Accomodation was a sprawling holiday house located in the heart of a beautiful landscape, equipped with a lot of facilities like a ground for soccer and T20 Cricket, tennis or basketball, a TT court etc. About 20 familes with children had loads of fun living playing and cooking together. Day trips were organised to all the landscape views in and around arosa. The evenings were filled with cultural programmes, and movie shows. Living and sharing moments with friends was the best part of the trip especially for children. click here to see the photos of the event

Ugadi 2014: From 11.00 to 19.00

Ugadi 2014 : This calander year is named “ Jaya “ or Victory. It is the 28th year in the 60 years cycle, ushering victory to people in all spheres of their activity. ICAS celebrated the event together with a huge crowd with its belief in the saying "let us grow together, work together and grow together, let there be peace". The event had an exciting agenda with a number of interesting and absorbing events for everyone to see, participate and enjoy. One such unique programme was a dance performance by the lotus group. The crowd was spell bound by the talent of the group, headed by Mrs Gauri. Gauri is a gifted talent in dance & art, and heads the Lotus group. Another event worth mentioning was a hip hop performance by ADR group, talented youngsters who let the crowd mesmerised with their performance. The event, also saw dance and music performance by many adults and kids. The event showcased some competitions like fancy dress for children and rangoli for ladies. All of them participated with a lot of enthusiasm. And finally, ICAS sincerely appreciated the efforts of all the ladies who prepared a wonderful pot luck menu, which was a big hit in the event. click here to see the moments of the event
